Australian ski resorts are celebrating the long weekend with the official opening of the snow season. With temperatures falling over the past week and snowmakers successfully adding to the natural snow base, there is an abundance of snow ready for skiers and snowboarders. In Victoria both Falls Creek and Hotham will open three ski lifts this weekend. Hotham is also offering discounted adult lift tickets for three operating lifts. Mount Buller has announced four chair lifts operating including Wombat chair for the first time on the first day of the snow season. In NSW Thredbo is kicking off the snow season this weekend with free entertainment, and six lifts operating including the Gun Barrel chairlift and the High Noon, Cruiser and Friday Flat ski areas operating. Perisher also has six operating lifts for the weekend including V8 and the Express Quad.
