Brunei’s Waterfront Promenade opens

Date: 3 June, 2011

The capital of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan, has just opened its new Waterfront Promenade. The promenade was officially opened by the Crown Prince of Brunei, Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, amid fireworks displays and a boat parade. The promenade was designed to attract people to the downtown area, and to make it a more vibrant place to visit for evenings of leisure. The project cost around US$5.4 million to build, and features restaurants, night lighting, and stages. The promenade is located in the heart of the city, and is within walking distance to landmarks such as the Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque and the Yayasan Shopping Complex.
