| Dunk and Bedarra Resorts have revised their projected reopening schedule after they were forced to close earlier this year in order to repair damage caused by Cyclone Yasi. Initially the island resorts indicated they would be able to take bookings after 31 August 2011. However, they admitted that an accurate time frame for repairs was a question that could not be answered with certainty. This is indeed the case as at present both properties now aim to re-open later than initially expected, on 1 April 2012. However progress has been made, with power and water being restored to the majority of the Dunk Island and Bedarra, mobile phone coverage for Dunk Island has been mostly restored with further work in progress to restore landline coverage. Further rectification works include guest facilities, infrastructure, landscaping, vegetation, ground works, staff facilities and updated furniture and fittings. |
