Combining luxury with eco-friendly design, the Shore Hotel will be opening this October close to the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles. The hotel has emphasised energy and water conservation in its design with the implementation of eco-friendly features such as roof mounted solar panels, high-efficiency toilets, storm-water management control, and low-flow showerheads. The hotel currently holds Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status, and is only one point from Gold, which would make it the only property in Santa Monica to hold this sustainability status if achieved upon completion. Rooms start at $250, and facilities include two dining establishments, a fitness centre, meeting and special event spaces, and a multi-level underground parking lot.
