Overview
This award-winning three-bedroom property provides a luxurious base to explore Tasmania’s east coast and is only one and a half hours from both Hobart and Launceston. The lodge sits on Great Oyster Bay and has been designed to take in the views over the Tasman Sea towards Schoten Island and Freycinet National Park. The three master bedrooms all have king sized beds with custom made linens and ensuites, and you’ll find the largest sofa on the east coast in the lounge room. Russian oak floorboards, antique Chinese and Mongolian furniture and custom handmade woollen rugs feature throughout and a double sided stone open fireplace is the focal point of the living room. Local stone is used throughout to complement the Chinese-influenced design. The pantry comes stocked with local produce and wines.

What to do
The Freycinet National Park if only a short distance from the lodge and provides the perfect scene for bushwalking, swimming or wildlife spotting. The perfectly crescent-shaped Wineglass Bay is a particularly scenic and relatively easy option. Serious walkers can traverse the lenght of the Freycinet peninsula over three days. The park is home to quolls, wallabies, possums and Tasmanian devils, and dolphins, whales and seals can be seen offshore. Fishing, sea kayaking and rock climbing are also popular activities in the park. The nearby town of Swansea is home to colonies of fairy penguins, as well as boutiques, restaurants and bars. There are also a number of wineries in the region to sample some Tasmanian specialties like pinot noir and chardonnay.
