Overview

Set on a 500 acres of private and secluded bushland this luxury home sleeps 16 guests with eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, an indoor heated pool, spa, sauna and gym spread over 6,000 square metres. All bedrooms feature ensuites, walk in robes and uninterrupted views of the Southern Ocean, while the luxurious Master Suite has a retractable roof for star gazing, open fireplace and private Jacuzzi. The large glass atrium is filled with tropical fruit trees, exotic plants, a koi pond and an intimate seating area for eight. There is a safe swimming lagoon and surf beach near the property as well as a lake, tennis court and putting green. The property was built to be eco-friendly to ensure a minimal impact on the natural Albany habitat and utilises solar energy and rainwater collection. The house is also home to an impressive art collection with over $1 million worth of art on display, including a contemporary indoor/outdoor tile mural by John Olsen and a specially commissioned bronze sculpture by Tom Bass.

What to do

With direct ocean access Maitraya is the perfect place for water sports like diving, snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing and boating. There are many winding tracks through the surrounding bushland which is home to birds and wildlife and, in the season, teems with wildflowers. Specialist wellness activities like yoga, pilates and meditation can be arranged at the property along with a range of beauty treatment. From June to October it is common to spot migrating humpback and southern wright whales in the surrounding ocean. A number of special interest group activities can be arranged including bird watching, history, marine scientific research groups, photography, architecture or aviation. Or arrange a game of football or cricket between your friends and family on the property's small oval.
