Overview
Just 30 minutes from the Hobart CBD, Woodbridge on the Derwent is Tasmania’s only Small Luxury Hotel. This boutique property is in a restored, convict-built Georgian mansion on the banks of the Derwent River. The building was constructed by the first local constable where he could observe the traffic on the river. Woodbridge has 39 rooms but hosts only a maximum of 16 guests in eight suites and rooms at any one time. Rooms have lush modern furnishings, original features, complimentary internet access, minibar and many have original fireplaces. The Mansion houses common areas including a ballroom, supper room and reading room all decorated in cool muted tones with blackwood floors, antique windows, handmade pricks and stone walls. Guests can indulge in the local food, wine, wilderness and wildlife that sums up the Tasmanian experience.

What to do
Guests can partake in a number of activities including walking, kayaking, rafting, swimming and fishing. Derwent valley also features premier wineries and farm gate produces. Wilderness areas nearby include Russel Falls, Mt Field National Park and the Styx Valley, home of the tallest hardwoods in the world.

Woodbridge is also within an easy half or full day loop trip from many Southern Tasmanian attractions including Port Arthur, the Huon and Coal River Valleys, Bruny Island, Richmond, Freycinet, Maria Island, the historic mainlands and the great mountain lakes.


Rates and Packages
Gold rooms start at $550 per night and Platinum rooms at $600 per night. At the top of the range the Spa Suites range from $695 to $760 per night.

Woodbridge has a range of ‘Direct to you’ packages on offer including gourmet tasting, wine tasting, fly fishing with an expert guide, massages and pampering, 4WD and nature walking, getting ‘behind the scenes’ with wildlife and golfing on the oldest course in the Southern Hemisphere.
