After four months of construction, the main and longest airport runway at John F. Kennedy International Airport reopened this week. The redevelopment of Bay Runway cost $348.1 million and involved the replacement of asphalt with concrete, which is expected to last another 40 years and save $500 million in future. However, another 3,647 feet of the runway is to be worked on and 50 feet is to be added to the runway's width, increasing its size to 200 feet within the next few months.
