| Australian culinary expert Maggie Beer will present a series of lectures on board the Silversea Auckland to Fremantle cruise in February 2012. Aside from her recent appearance on Masterchef Australia, Maggie is famed for co-hosting The Cook and the Chef and for her many published culinary books, including the award-winning illustrated book Maggie’s Harvest. Guests who join her on the Silver Shadow “will relish the opportunity to tap into Maggie’s vast knowledge of all things gourmet,” Karen Christensen, Silversea’s director of sales and marketing, said on Tuesday in a statement. Maggie will be joined by several other guest lecturers including Terry Waite, a hostage negotiator and humanitarian who has successfully negotiated the release of hostages in Iran and Libya during the 1980s and who was himself taken captive in 1987; and Philip Hurst, an historian and world affairs expert who is also the former Deputy Director of the Australian Institute of International Affairs. The cruise will depart from Auckland on 4 February, visiting Napier, Wellington and Picton in New Zealand, and Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Port Lincoln and Albany in Australia, before finishing in Fremantle on 23 February. All-inclusive fares start from approximately A$11,150 per person, double occupancy. |
