The Mandarin Oriental Singapore has had its fifth floor pool area redesigned to better offer guests a retreat from the city while appreciating its views. The 25-metre pool features Italian glass mosaic designs in lilac, blue and purple, enhanced at night with fibre-optic lighting. Underwater benches and hand-sculpted sandstone water features allow guests to soak up the sun from the water. The pool area is now surrounded by a lush tropical setting, raised to different levels to emphasise the Singaporean skyline views, from Frank Gehry-designed lounge furniture. Five Oriental private cabanas offer guests controlled lighting and temperature systems, iPod dock, WiFi, and call buttons for food and beverage service. The Hotel's Dolce Vita restaurant now offers alfresco dining from a menu developed by Michelin-starred Italian chef Marco Pedrelli.
