Platinum Club rolls into Sydney

The Indian Pacific, one of Great Southern Rail’s luxury trains, rolled into Sydney this week. Luxury Travel magazine attended a media event to dine onboard in the new Platinum Club. The club carriage is the company’s first major redevelopment since 2008, offering a daytime lounge, a deco-style bar, lounge and dining area. The new Platinum Club dining spaces will be offered across both The Ghan and the Indian Pacific.

The company’s chief revenue officer, Steve Kernaghan explained the company has been investing in developing an all-inclusive product across both trains, with food, beverage and off-rail excursions.

The company has seen a 24 per cent increase in demand for its platinum service over the past two years.

A mini fashion parade at Sydney’s Central station alongside the Indian Pacific revealed the new-look uniforms for the 300 staff members of Great Southern Rail, designed by Juli Grbac and R.M. Williams.
