P&O cancels cruise after problems

Date: November 5, 2010
P&O Cruises ship Pacific Jewel is reportedly suffering engine and/or stabiliser problems. Pacific Jewel cruise J034, an eight-night Sydney/Noumea cruise due to depart Sydney on 5 November 2010, has been cancelled to allow the ship to enter dry dock for replacement of a key part in one of the ship’s two stabilisers. According to a statement posted on the P&O website, passengers were informed of the problem as long ago as August when P&O offered to transfer their booking to an alternative cruise. P&O are currently offering to refund passengers and allowing them to claim for any non-refundable out-of-pocket expenses associated with the cruise cancellation.
