Qantas today announced the rebuilding of Qantas International. The aviation group announced it would acquire up to 110 Airbus A380 aircraft, plus 194 purchase rights and options, to support fleet renewal and growth for the next 10 to 15 years. Qantas and British Airways will also enhance their Joint Services Agreement partnership to strengthen their Singapore hub, improving connections, product and service on flights between Australia and London Heathrow. Qantas has also announced that it will commence direct flights between Sydney and Santiago, Chile in early 2012, a service that will operate three times a week. Qantas will further invest almost $400 million in new international lounges, in flight entertainment and aircraft refurbishment to improve the customer experience.
