Qantas offers redundancies to cabin crew

In a response to high fuel costs, Qantas has offered all 7,000 of its cabin crew voluntary redundancies. The move towards voluntary redundancy for cabin crew is the latest in a series of industrial issues for Qantas. Chief executive officer Alan Joyce says the airline is facing its most serious challenge since the peak of the global financial crisis, saying that Qantas needs to “act decisively to respond to rising fuel costs to ensure the ongoing sustainability of our business.”
