Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney, has announced the $20 million refurbishment of their guestrooms will commence in May 2011. The refurbishment will include upgrading the hotel’s 442 guestrooms and is aiming for completion in September 2011. The renovated rooms will provide guests with an increased level of luxury, comfort and sophistication, featuring purpose-built window seating that provides unrivalled views of Sydney’s skyline. Adding to the recent technological upgrades that all hotel guestrooms and suites received in 2010, including widescreen LCD televisions, Foxtel satellite channels, and complementary broadband and Internet access, further enhancements include iHome docks, media hubs and custom designed furniture. Franz Donhauser, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney's general manager, confirms that the aim of the refurbishment is to “strengthen Shangri-La’s position as the city’s leading five-star deluxe hotel and provide a new benchmark for luxury accommodation in Sydney.” Interior design company Hassell will spearhead the guestroom refurbishment, with senior interior designer Grace Guo taking the lead role.
