Six Senses is now in the process of planning its first Chinese resort, the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, which is due to open in 2013. The site is historically significant and a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site. To honour this, the Six Senses resort will embrace Taoist and Chinese architecture and design. The company is committed to ensuring that all building materials will be natural, sustainable, and sourced locally. Bernhard Bohnenberger, Six Senses Deputy Chairman, said that the luxury resort brand “couldn’t be more pleased” to be breaking into this “beautiful area of China.”
