Just in time for school holidays, recent storms have left nearly two metres of fresh snow covering New Zealand’s Southern Lakes region. While the snow has resulted from continuous heavy snowfalls and consistently cold temperatures, blue skies have been forecasted from July 18. “Everyone’s really fired up, people have been pouring into town and businesses are pumping,” Destination Queenstown CEO Tony Everitt said on Friday in a statement. There are currently 30 trans-Tasman flights direct to Queenstown.
