Split Apple Retreat and Split Apple Hideaway have opened in Nelson, New Zealand's "sunshine capital", offering guests a private beachfront escape complete with rugged scenery and wildlife aplenty. Retired doctor Lee Nelson runs the wellness-focused retreat, encouraging guests to take a health evaluation, with an individualised program and gourmet meals provided by his culinary artist wife, using only ingredients known to boost health. Yoga, meditation and cooking classes are offered, along with an infinity pool overlooking the ocean and a spa under the stars. Four ocean-front King suites all feature private decks and zen gardens. The sister property, Hideaway, also features four secluded suites, Italian furniture and a fine modern art collection. The Hideaway is a hop away from both the Abel Tasman National Park outdoor adventure area and the Marlborough wine region, all easily accessible by a car.
