The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for 2012 has been launched, with over 950 places to eat listed in Sydney and New South Wales.

For the first time, no fewer than five Sydney restaurants were awarded the top accolade of three chef’s hats. Marque, est. and Quay all kept theirs from last year, while Quay’s Peter Gilmore also won the prestigious Chef of the Year award. Sepia was showered with accolades, not only scoring three chef’s hats for the first time but also winning Restaurant of the Year and Young Chef of the Year.

Bilson’s Restaurant, housed in the five star Radisson Plaza Hotel complex, was awarded Favourite Vegetarian Menu in addition to its three chef’s hats.

Another notable eatery highlighted at the awards was Manfredi at Bells, the restaurant located at the five star Central Coast boutique hotel, Bells at Killcare. Manfredi at Bells was recognised as having the best Regional Wine List of the Year and also scored the Good Living Sustainability Award as a result of their focus on preparing seasonal dishes inspired by the produce grown and harvested in their own vegetable garden, in addition to the locally caught seafood.
