October will see the opening of Sydney’s newest boutique hotel, The Darling, on the edge of Sydney harbour. Part of the A$860 million refurbishment of The Star, the five-star hotel features 171 rooms and suites, including two penthouse suites. Penthouse guests will experience floor-to-ceiling harbour views, bespoke furniture, fireplaces, media rooms, butler service and a private VIP arrival. The complex itself will showcase 20 new bars, cafés and restaurants, a shopping area and a revamped casino. “Our philosophy of The Darling is to take every aspect, whether it is a water glass or a coat hanger, and pay close attention to its forms and function,” General Manager Drew Schlesinger said on Monday in a statement. The Darling will accept reservations from September.
