| Thai Airways has officially launched their 72nd destination (14th destination in Europe), Brussels in Belgium. They will offer direct flights to and from Bangkok beginning 17th November 2011. In a press conference, Executive Vice President of THAI, Pandit Chanapai said: “Brussels was chosen as THAI's new destination to facilitate the growing number of passengers travelling between Australia, Thailand and Europe and for travellers' convenience via a direct route. It is in line with THAI's strategy for expanding and serving other European cities, through a feeder city such as Brussels. Today approximately 12-15 per cent of passengers from Belgium and neighbouring countries, especially those destined for Australia, make their connections in Frankfurt. THAI expects these passengers will appreciate the convenience of the route to and from Brussels to Southeast Asia and Australia." The new flight, TG934, will depart three times per week from Bangkok at 12.30am, and arrive in Brussels at 7am in the same morning. The flight from Brussels, Flight TG935, will depart the same days at 1.30pm, arriving in Bangkok at 6.20am hours the following day. Direct connecting flights will also be available from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and outbound from Brisbane. The first flight to Brussels on 17 November 2011 has already reached 80 per cent seat capacity on the Boeing 777-200 ER. These are the first direct flights between Southeast Asia and Belgium’s capital, adding much ease for surrounding countries such as the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France. Convenience will also be available for Europeans travelling to other parts of Southeast Asia and Australia. |
