2. HISTORY
Wake up to the pyramids

Your Egyptologist guide will also take you through the prehistoric Sakkara, which is the site of the first pyramid ever built in Egypt by King Zoser, and show you the 14th century Mosque of Sultan Hassan. If you’re looking to do some shopping in Egypt, this tour offers a trip to the bustling markets known as Khan Khalili Bazaar, which dates back to 1382 and is one of the main attractions for tourists visiting Cairo. The four-day tour includes accommodation in the Mena House Oberoi Hotel where you can wake up to a view of the pyramids if you book one of the Pyramid View Rooms.

3. CAMPING
Desert discovery
This tour begins in Cairo before heading to the Baharia Oasis and the Hall of Mummies. Your guide will tell you about the distinct wrappings that identify these mummies as being from the Greco-Roman period. Next is the White Desert where white chalk formations rise out of the sand like huge mushrooms. Here, in this magical landscape, the tour sets up camp for the night. The second tour day starts with a visit to the Black Desert and its charcoal-coloured basalt canyons and cliffs. You’ll also see Crystal Mountain, an intriguing desert formation of sparkling quartz crystals. The three-day tour ends at Wadi Hitan, which translates to Valley of the Whales. The region was once under the ocean and it’s believed that the area dried up so quickly that it trapped hundreds of whales, with more than 400 primitive fossils having been discovered there.
