Update: Dunk and Bedarra Island Resorts upgrade

Date: December 5, 2010
In November, it was announced Dunk and Bedarra Island Resorts were undergoing a $10 million upgrade and enhancement program to help them reclaim the top position in their respective markets. The extensive upgrade program is to be completed in 2011. $46.5 million worth of structural and interior design changes are underway at Dunk Island, and once complete, the resort will offer more accommodation options for groups and families in the Garden Cabanas and Lower Banfields with lower prices. The update to common areas includes a soft refurbishment of restaurant and bar areas, new lighting, air conditioning as well as extra seating. Also included in the upgrade will be Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the resort’s common areas and pool environs, and Dunk Island Resort will be the first island resort in Australia to introduce 3G iPads for guests to use in the resort area. At Bedarra Island Resort, the $3.5 million makeover will bring to guests new day beds and dining suites. And the resort’s gym will have a heated plunge pool with Spa swim jet and a combination stem room. Operated by Hideaway Resorts, the upgrades will allow the properties to take advantage of their unique natural setting and close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef.
