JANE GIFFORD EXAMINES THE LATEST LUXURY WATCH BRANDS HAVE TO OFFER.

Assembling a collection of fine watches is a popular pursuit, which comes as no surprise really, considering how exquisitely designed, and therefore irresistible, time pieces can be. On the hot list right now are strictly limited editions such as Baume & Mercier’s handsome Riviera XXL, a generously-sized all black chronograph, and Jaeger LeCoultre’s Grande Reverso 986 Duodate, an elegant new classic that swivels to display two time zones. Another stand-out watch is the Sinn 756 Diapal, a high-tech masterpiece with an ingenious lubricant-free movement — no maintenance required, ever. Daredevil adventurers will love this robust watch which will perform at the peak of Mt Everest, 200 meters below sea level and in all sorts of extreme conditions in between. Sporty Omega fans, may find the Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph, an impressive addition to Omega’s popular Seamaster Aqua Terra range, hard to resist. Notable too, for showcasing serious horological expertise, are Cartier’s Rotonde de Cartier central chronograph 9907 MC caliber, and Boucheron’s brand new timepiece jewel: the pink gold and diamond Reflet XL. For romantics, a wristwatch from Franck Muller’s Heart collection, such as the model featuring a diamond pavé dial and a lacquered red heart at six o’clock, for example, is a perfect expression of love.
