The Virgin Blue Group of Airlines announced the first phase of the group's network review, aimed at delivering increased competition and taking advantage of opportunities for growth. Capacity will be added to high-performing routes and removed from under-performing services. It is hoped that these changes will maximise yields and better integrate the group's international and domestic services. More than 490,000 additional seats have been provided across the domestic network by prior changes. Pacific Blue will cease flying NZ domestic flights and instead be focused on trans-Tasman and medium-haul international flights. V Australia aircraft will be dedicated to international long-haul flights, and Eastern seaboard capital city routes, and tourist destinations such as the Gold Coast and Uluru will receive more flights as part of the Virgin Blue network.
