Virgin Blue Group of Airlines has announced it will build its first new wide-body hanger and associated infrastructure at Sydney Airport by late 2012. The new development will hold up to four narrow-body aircraft or two narrow-body aircraft and one wide-body aircraft. The development will be part of a new engineering maintenance base to support its growing operations. Virgin Blue now runs 95 flights through Sydney daily. The new base will be available for partner airlines to rent out. Virgin Blue already has maintenance bases in Brisbane and Melbourne.
