Suite life: Park Hyatt Seoul

About the hotel

In contrast to the bustling business district of Gangnam, the design aesthetic of Park Hyatt Seoul is inspired by nature with a repeated motif of stone, wood, water and natural light elements. There are floor to ceiling windows throughout the glass box-style, 24-floor building. All 185 guest rooms, including 38 suites, have city views.

Unique features

Fantastic service begins from the moment you step into the elevator that takes you to the sky lobby located on the top floor. The service at the front desk was fast and efficient, with check in completed in a moment. Everywhere you looked had an amazing city view and at the end of the lobby lounge was the beautiful glassed infinity pool. I wasn’t sure about the pool being in the lobby, however it’s a departure from the traditional hotel layout.

Dining

Park Hyatt Seoul has two dining spots – Cornerstone, an open kitchen restaurant that served fantastic cuisine, with many choices for lunch and dinner and specialising in seafood prepared in wood burning ovens. The restaurant also has a 3,000 bottle walk-in wine cellar. The Timber House has three bars and is styled after a traditional hanok (wooden Korean house). Japanese cuisine is served and you can also catch live performances here.

Spa

The Park Club spa and fitness centre offers western and Korean pampering, spanning two floors. Workout clothing and bathers are provided to Park Club patrons.

Highlights

Bathrooms were just what you expect from Park Hyatt; beautiful, large, spa-inspired and views of the city from the shower and granite bathtub. Aesop amenities are included for your indulgence.

Could do better

From any floor, you have to go up to the lobby (located on the 24th floor) and then take another elevator down to the ground.

If you’d like an upgrade

Among the 38 suites, there is one Presidential Suite. The Presidential Suite spans 1,722 square feet including an impressive stand-alone central fireplace, separate private office, a spacious granite and stone master bathroom, guest bathroom and a wet bar.

Insider tip

Cornerstone hosts Weekend Brunch from 11:30am until 3pm. Brunch includes a glass of champagne and tea or coffee. Guests can sample a selection of seafood including king crab, lobster and sashimi as well as homemade ice cream, cakes and waffles for dessert.
