Party central

The beautiful people of Bali have a new address with the opening of Nikki Beach in Nusa Dua. It is the latest in Bali’s growing flock of sexy beach clubs that combine the best of a cocktail bar with a private villa. Think plush white day beds, a swimming pool with underwater speakers and a swim up bar, endless champagne and ocean views. It’s a one-stop party destination with drinking, dining and dancing from morning ’til night, seven days a week.

Luxury Travel was on the guest list for the exclusive opening night White Party. Despite rainy skies, the club was packed with designer-clad partygoers drinking $5,000 bottles of Cristal Champagne as an acrobat flew above the crowd suspended from a hot air balloon. Nikki Beach certainly knows how to make an entrance.

The club sits within the grounds of the luxe Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort and is the first of its kind in Nusa Dua. Most of Bali’s day clubs (like Potato Head and Ku De Ta) are centred around Seminyak but the new Nikki Beach will bring its own variety of stylish glamour to this sleepy, upmarket enclave. It will host fashion shows, full moon parties, theme nights and a weekly Sunday brunch (the latest must-do in Bali).

The Nikki Beach brand has an impressive pedigree. The flagship club opened in Miami in 1998 and there are now 12 outposts around the world from St Tropez to Marrakech, Ibiza and Phuket. They are a favoured hangout for celebrities and play host to huge international music acts, so expect nothing less in Bali.

Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua opened in late 2013 and is a sprawling, leafy resort with more than 400 rooms set around a series of landscaped pools. The pool access suites give you access to the main swimming pool from your balcony but are set back for enough so that it feels like a private plunge pool. If you need to undo some of Nikki Beach’s hedonism, try one of the detox treatments at the on-site Vietura Spa.
