Nineteen-day luxury Africa itinerary

This is an example of a bespoke Africa itinerary created for an FBI Travel client.

Day 1

Cape Town

Arrive in South Africa at O.R. Tambo International Airport and you will be met by a representative airside and assisted through to your connecting flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town International Airport, you will be meet by a representation who will hand over your travel documents and then transfer you to Commodore Hotel for your check in.

Day 2

Cape Town

You will be collected from your hotel by a private guide and highlights for the day will include: Table Mountain via the cableway; Bo Kaap; Downtown Cape Town CBD; Government Avenue; Greenmarket Square; The Castle of Good Hope; District Six Museum; the flower sellers in Adderley Street and the V&A Waterfront.

Day 3

Cape Town

Pick up is at 10am where you will have a half day Robben Island tour.

Day 4

Cape Town

Days at leisure. Optional activities for the clients own account. Activities could include a day at the beach; stand up paddle boarding or shopping.

Day 5

Cape Town

Pick up at 9am where you will experience a full day private Peninsula Scenic Tour. Highlights include: scenic drives of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans; Hout Bay; Chapman’s Peak; Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve & Cape Point Lighthouse; Boulders Beach to experience the African Penguin Colony; Simon’s Town historical naval base; Fynbos vegetation; possible sightings of baboons, bontebok, ostriches, bird life and Southern Right Whales.

Day 6

Cape Town

Day at leisure. Optional actives for clients own account.

Day 7

Cape Town - Mpumalanga

You will be collected at 07:45am and transferred from your hotel to Cape Town International Airport where you will fly into Kruger Mpumalanga Airport. From there you will be transferred to Southern Camp.

Stay: Kapama Southern Camp in a suite

Meals: All meals, an afternoon high tea and all alcohol is included.

Days 8 & 9

Mpumalanga

On these days activities include two daily game drives per day, early morning and late afternoon which are included.

Day 10

Mpumalanga - Johannesburg

You will transfer from Kapama Southern Camp to Hoedspruit Airport. And then transferred from O.R Tambo Airport in Johannesburg to your hotel.

Day 11

Johannesburg, South Africa

An early pick up for a private full day in Soweto & Johannesburg Tour.

Day 12

Johannesburg - Livingstone

You will be transferred from your hotel to O.R Tambo Airport to board your flight to Livingstone Airport in Zambia

Stay: Victoria Falls Hotel

Meals: Breakfast

 

Day 13

Livingstone

You will be collected at 8:30am to go on the Victoria Falls Tour, which includes entrance fee and transfers. To discover how the Falls were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them, it is well worth taking a guided tour. These tours are informative and last for 2½ hours. You have the option of a 12-minute flight to truly put The Falls and the Zambezi River into perspective, as they really should be seen from the air.

Day 14

Livingstone

Pick up is at 11am, where you will be transferred to the Bridge Slide (zip line) which includes transfers and is weather permitting.

Today you will depart Victoria Falls Hotel and transfer to Chobe Game Lodge.

Meals: All meals, an afternoon high tea and all alcohol is included.

Day 15

Botswana

Today you will depart Victoria Falls Hotel and transfer to Chobe Game Lodge.

Stay: Chobe Game Lodge

Meals: All meals, an afternoon high tea and all alcohol is included.

 

Day 16

Botswana

Activities include two daily game drives, early morning and late afternoon which are included.

Stay: Chobe Game Lodge

Day 17

Johannesburg

Transfer from Chobe Game Reserve to Kasane Airport where you will fly to O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

Meals: Breakfast

 

Day 18

Johannesburg

Optional activities in Johannesburg at the client’s expense. Activities may include shopping in Maboneng District of the city; an Art Tour; Pretoria Tour or Fox Market Shed.

Day 19

Johannesburg

Pick up at 10am and transfer to O.R Tambo International Airport where you will depart South Africa and head home.

Inclusions

Accommodation as detailed based on a twin share basis for a family sharing two bedrooms; all private transfers; all domestic flights around South Africa and Africa; all daily tours and excursions; all game drives; all meals as specified and at the game parks a high tea and all alcohol is provided.

Exclusions

International flights, visas, vaccinations; insurance coverage of personal loss, injury, illness or damages incurred during your trip; items of a purely personal nature such as drinks, laundry, dry cleaning; transfers/ sightseeing or meals not specified in itinerary; excess baggage charges; tipping.

Cost

This itinerary cost is approx. A$5,500 per person, based on four adults sharing two bedrooms.

Weather to go

 

The numerous regions of Africa experience a great range of weather conditions. Temperatures are highest in the desert areas, particularly in the Sahara where annual rainfall is low. Alternately, the tropical rainforests in the centre of the continent experience high rainfall, with a humid, sub-tropical characteristic of the southwest. The savannahs experience distinct wet and dry seasons which means safaris should be planned during the dry season so as to avoid floods, mudslides and downpours.
