American beach holiday hotspot Florida Keys is set to open three brand new luxury hotels, eight months after catastrophic Hurricane Irma, which hit in August last year.

After extensive hotel closures due to damage caused by the hurricane, the region’s tourism has begun to rebound, and redevelopment is well underway with 1,500 new rooms set to open in the next year in the region. In Key Largo, the Keys’ first luxury-inclusive, adults-only resort, the 135-room Bungalows Key Largo, will open in the American autumn, as well as the 200-room Baker’s Cay Resort, a hotel in Hilton’s Curio Collection. The 199-room Isla Bella Beach Resort, with several restaurants, pools and a marina, near the Seven Mile Bridge, is also scheduled to open in early 2019 and will become one of the largest resorts on the islands.

Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp has reopened after undergoing an extensive facelift and refurbishment. Built on a 260,000-acre private concession in the renowned Okavango Delta, the transformation is part of a multi-million-dollar investment program across the Sanctuary portfolio, which has been inspired by the successful re-launch of Sanctuary Chief’s Camp in 2016 (now positioned as the most exclusive luxury camp in Botswana), and will to roll out across other Sanctuary Retreats properties over the next 12 months.

Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts has announced the Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai will open on 20th June 2018

Set on a scenic riverbank and just minutes from the iconic Bund and Shanghai City Centre, the Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai is set to open this June with sweeping views of the Bund and of Pudong’s dramatic skyline.

Balancing nature, contemporary design and heritage architecture, the property combines a 48-floor tower, a majestically restored Chamber of Commerce Shanghai building completed in 1916, and lush gardens that surround the whole area.

Occupying the top eight floors of the tower that is also home to Bvlgari Residences, the hotel includes 82 Rooms, 19 of which are exquisite Suites, and Italian restaurant Il Ristorante – Niko Romito and Il Bar, as well as La Terrazza on the rooftop, which offers breathtaking views of The Bund and Pudong. Bao Li Xuan restaurant will serve exquisite Cantonese classics and local Shanghainese specialties in the historical atmosphere of the Chamber of Commerce Shanghai building adjacent to the Hotel tower.

Completing the hotel is a 2,000-square-metre Bvlgari Spa and fitness centre, and a 500-square-meter ballroom with triple-height ceilings.

Windstar Cruises has announced enhanced guest experiences ranging from professional sommeliers on four ships, beverage experts on James Beard Culinary Cruises and new beverage package enticements on Longer Star Collector Voyages

Windstar Cruises has recently hired a team of sommeliers to enhance the guest experience as part of their ongoing fleet-wide wine, beverage and culinary 2018 development programs.

The sommeliers will be available to guests on-board four Windstar Ships in 2018 including the 310-guest Wind Surf, which arrived in Lisbon in April for the northern summer season in the Mediterranean. Windstar’s three all-suite ships serving 212 guests each also offer on-board sommeliers — Star Breeze and Star Pride – sailing throughout Europe – as well as Star Legend, which kicked-off the new wine offering in January on board Asia voyages, and will arrive in Alaska for her maiden season in May.

All Windstar sommeliers have been chosen for their professional training and global experience, having previously worked in various wineries, restaurants, and for travel and hospitality brands including Celebrity, Disney and Seabourn cruise lines, Hermitage and Radisson hotels and Le Cheval Blanc in Bordeaux.

The recently announced multi-year partnership, as the Official Cruise Line of the James Beard Foundation, is another component of Windstar’s fleet-wide enhancements. This year the culinary-themed cruises feature James Beard-recognised guest chefs and beverage experts hand-selected by the James Beard Foundation, including top sommeliers from across the United States such as Belinda Chang and Shelley Lindgren.

Beyond the wine enhancements, Windstar will now also offer less restrictive and more affordable beverage packages for longer sailings such as minimum 14-day back-to-back Star Collector Voyages. The boutique line unveiled a new beverage package program in the 2017 northern autumn season, allowing for a variety of tiered levels of premium products.

The Voyager’s Adventure (USD32 per person per day) and Topmast Discoveries (USD42 per person per day) beer and wine packages include a healthy mix of New and Old World wines. Many of the selections come from regions visited on Windstar itineraries, including Bordeaux, France and Barcelona, Spain. The Captain’s Exclusive (USD52 per person per day) package includes an array of wines, beers and spirits, including Dalmore Single Malt Whisky, distilled just outside of Invergordon, Scotland; a port visited on Windstar’s Gaelic Explorers and Norwegian Fjords & Scottish Isles cruises.
