The Hotel Britomart will open in Auckland’s Britomart Precinct in early 2020

Construction has begun on an elegant new lifestyle hotel in Auckland’s most vibrant urban neighbourhood, Britomart Precinct. The vision of private investors Cooper and Company, who originally developed the precinct, Hotel Britomart will be managed by international hoteliers TFE Hotels and is set to open its doors for the first time in early 2020.

Located on the corner of Gore and Galway streets, the new Hotel Britomart has been designed by Chesire Architects and its construction will include the refurbishment and restoration of the adjoining Masonic and Buckland heritage buildings.  In addition to the lobby, the hotel’s ground floor will be occupied by retail outlets and food and beverage offerings, in keeping with the dockside warehouses, sleek architectural buildings, brick laneways filled with lively bars and  leading restaurants and boutiques that pepper the Britomart precinct. The hotel building is also targeting a 5-star Green rating that is part of a wider commitment to sustainability throughout the Britomart precinct.

Future guests of the hotel will step off a cobbled laneway into a café-style lobby space full of light and life, with 10 floors consisting of 99 rooms and five ‘Landing Suites’. The suites – three of them boasting generous outdoor sky gardens – were designed in collaboration with Seattle’s Lucas Design Associates, the name a reference to Cooper and Company’s New Zealand vineyard and luxury residence, The Landing, in the Bay of Islands.

Bookings for Hotel Britomart will open in late 2019.
