In the village of Burrawang in the Southern Highlands region of NSW, a new luxury home ‘Burrawang House’ has opened for stays of up to 14 guests.

The north-facing, architecturally designed weather-board home Burrawang House is now open, suitable for gatherings of families and friends. With five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, three wood fireplaces, a nine-metre swimming pool and an eight-person spa, the property can sleep up to 14 people.

The property is surrounded by towering 100-year-old trees. It is not far from the Burrawang Village Hotel pub and Burrawang Village General Store Café, both a short stroll away in the village of Burrawang, established in 1865.

Nearby, there are walking, cycling or kayaking experiences in National Parks and State Forests, including Fitzroy Falls approximately a 10-minute drive away. Wine lovers may appreciate the 15 cellar doors dotted throughout this cool-climate wine region.

Design notes

Ideal for entertaining, a large kitchen features a three-metre kitchen island, double Bertazzoni oven and cantilevered window, which opens to the outdoor living room with a recycled brick wood fireplace.

Inside the ducted, air-conditioned home, the open-plan living space features a towering cathedral roof design, oak floorboards and an oak dining table that seats 12. Guests can admire the 18th-century Belgian mantle fireplace while reclining into an L-shaped Jardan sofa.

Owners Gabrielle Brewer and James Tait have been holidaying in Burrawang for more than 20 years.

“The beauty of Burrawang House is that it was built in 2022, but it brings in so many elements which make it feel like it’s been here forever, people feel instantly at home,” said Gabrielle Brewer.

“There are pergolas with recycled wood recovered from the Sydney Fish Markets, beautiful art collected over decades, antique furniture, bespoke joinery, lighting from the Montauk Company, Kate Spade, Paul Smith and Louis Poulsen and beautiful Armadillo rugs,” says Gabrielle.

Burrawang House can be reached in about a one hour and 45-minute drive from Sydney. It is a five-minute drive from the nearby village of Robertson; and a 12-minute drive from Bowral.

Rates start at $5,790 for two nights, for up to 14 people
