Rosewood Blue Palace is slated to open in 2025 on the beautiful island of Crete, marking the brand’s expansion into Greece

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will open its first hotel in Greece following an extensive refurbishment of beloved Crete hotel, Blue Palace. Nestled between the charming fishing village of Plaka and the port of Elounda, the resort is set into the picturesque hillside overlooking a private beach, and is slated to open as Rosewood Blue Palace in 2025.

The resort will embody Rosewood’s guiding ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy, drawing inspiration from the elegance of the Greek Islands and feature 154 rooms and suites, 85 of which feature private pools.

The resort’s interiors, designed by the acclaimed Grecian firm, K-Studio, will reflect Cretan tradition and identity, adding a touch of authenticity to the guest experience, while renowned Greek-born, London-based interior designer Afroditi Krassa has been enlisted to create unique spaces for three of the resort’s six restaurants and bars.

Rosewood Blue Palace will feature specialty restaurants, a beach club, and a bar offering panoramic views of the stunning Spinalonga Island; along with spa, fitness center, movement studio, yoga pavilion, and dedicated hydrotherapy treatment areas. The resort’s three outdoor pools will include options for both adults and children.

The reimagining of the esteemed Rosewood Blue Palace marks the brand’s entry into Greece, and showcases its commitment to elevating existing properties around the globe. Rosewood Blue Palace joins an esteemed collection of European properties, including Rosewood London, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, Rosewood Villa Magna, Rosewood Vienna, and Rosewood Munich, with Rosewood Amsterdam and Rosewood Schloss Fuschl set to open in the coming year.

Rosewood also recently announced it will take over the management of three iconic New Zealand lodges under the Robertson Lodges group: The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers and Matakauri Lodge. From 1 December 2023, the resorts will join the Rosewood portfolio, operating as Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, Rosewood Cape Kidnappers and Rosewood Matakauri.
