Contemporary, design-led Gundari Resort is set to arrive on the Greek island of Folegandros in May 2024

Gundari Resort will open in May 2024 as a ‘raw and wild’, authentic escape on the private Greek island of Folegandros. Nestled away and wrapped in 32 hectares of nature, the 5-star resort pays homage to the sense of place and connection to the land and takes its aesthetic cues from the ancient tones of the island. The resort will comprise 27 suites and villas, all positioned on soaring cliffs, and feature framed views of the Aegean Sea.

With a vision to capture the essence of the region, with its unspoiled landscapes, the experience at Gundari Resort will be intimate and exclusive, with a commitment to sustainability apparent throughout. Going beyond simply preserving the natural beauty of Folegandros, the resort implements practices to minimise the resort’s ecological footprint. Gundari also maximises energy efficiency through bioclimatic building design and instilling carbon monitoring and certification programs through Earthcheck. Working towards zero waste, the resort has a no single-use plastic policy and provides renewable solar energy for hot water and pool heating, as well as a 100% electric vehicle fleet, accounting for low carbon-free emissions.

The destination offers a commitment to providing travellers with an authentic experience, showcasing Greece in its purest form. In-house leisure activities include exploring hidden bays, beaches and nearby islands on the Gundari luxury boat, enrolling in an authentic Greek cooking class or culinary tours, and diving and snorkelling in the caves, reefs and walls that surround Folegandros. Guided hiking trails on ancient paths or historic tours through the island and electric bikes or EV mini-Moke vehicles are also available to discover the island.
