5 new luxury places to stay in Bali
Jumierah, Bali

With its outstanding scenery, fascinating culture and incredible resorts, Bali is a haven for those seeking an idyllic island escape. These five-star properties offer seclusion, wellness experiences, and thoughtful design—whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with family and friends.

Lost Lindenberg

On Bali’s ruggedly beautiful West Coast near Medewi, Lost Lindenberg is touted as a ‘guest collective’—perfect for surfers, wellness enthusiasts or those simply seeking some solace in a remote destination. It’s the first Lindenberg property outside of Europe. Resembling treehouses suspended high in the jungle are eight thoughtfully designed guestrooms, finished with sustainable linen, contemporary artworks, and custom-made ceramics. Dining is at a seven-metre-long communal table, where guests can converse over plant-based cuisine made using local and seasonal ingredients. The resort has its own beach and surfing sessions are included in the room rate—in between surfing, guests can practice yoga or relax with a Balinese massage in the spa.

Rates from US$350 (about A$517) per night

Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape

In a remote section of northern Ubud jungle, Banyan Tree’s new Buahan Escape is a striking example of immersive design. A ‘no walls, no doors’ concept is imbued throughout the property, with 16 balés (villas) connected to nature via spacious indoor-outdoor living areas with 180-degree views. The Open Kitchen and Living Room is designed with community in mind, and guests are invited to explore a zero-waste, farm-to-table dining concept with menus that are 70 per cent plant-based. Hideaway Spots feature throughout the resort, designed as calming natural spaces for reading, meditation, and contemplation.

Rates from A$804 per night

Jumeirah Bali

Jumeirah’s proclivity for decadent and palatial-style accommodations is evident at the new Jumeirah Bali, a cliffside resort in Uluwatu. Said to be inspired by Hindu-Javanese history and the golden era of the Majapahit empire, the property is an oasis filled with calming water features and lush tropical gardens. Scattered throughout the grounds, 123 villas come with private pools, outdoor living spaces and landscaped gardens.

Rates from A$867 per night

LXR Hotels & Resorts, Bali

Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts group will open its first resort in Southeast Asia later this year in Uluwatu, Bali. The clifftop property will have 72 luxurious guest accommodations with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Five dining concepts include an all-day dining spot, a speciality restaurant, a beach club and two bars; while a spa, fitness centre and kids’ club are also planned. Nearby attractions include the sea temple, Pura Uluwatu, one of the most revered holy sites that dates to the 11th century; and Melasti Beach, which sits beneath the resort.

Anantara Ubud Bali Resort

Anantara’s third Balinese resort is set to open in Payangan, a secluded Ubud village surrounded by tropical jungle. Its 85 rooms and pool villas draw on the hospitality brand’s wellness ethos, with a calming design that mirrors the culture and traditions of its locale. Several dining destinations, an infinity pool, a kids’ and teens’ club, and a state-of-the-art spa are just some of the guest amenities on offer, while local attractions include the Hanging Gardens, Puri Saren Royal Palace, and Bali’s famed rice terraces.
