At an arts-focused hotel in Hong Kong, Beatrice Spence discovers a groovy rooftop vibe.

A stay at Ovolo Southside’s restaurant Cirqle is filled not just with resident guests but also Hong Kong locals drawn by the exciting modern cuisine from Chef Krzysztof Bandel. Whether it be for an intimate dinner, a friend’s birthday or a business brunch, Cirqle is an ideal location with bar/share tables or table seating. The outdoor terrace is lovely, spacious and summery: perfect for breakfast. On Sundays, the endless barbecue with free-flowing champagne and all-day band on the terrace is not to be missed.

The restaurant inside is all cool casual. Watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen while you sip on a cocktail. Chef Bandel brings delicious and unexpected pairings of food from around the world such as merguez sausage with orecchiettte pasta or seared pigeon with marquez sausage. Even a straightforward fettuccine bolognese is an East-meets-West meal at Cirqle with a spicy Asian twist. Top quality produce is sourced from all around the world so that plates like 16oz corn fed Nebraska rib eye can feature, together with Scottish salmon and Australian lamb.

Finish with dessert in the restaurant or head up to Above bar. The Above bar has a groovy industrial feel with live DJs and panaromic views across Wong Chuk Hang. Party on late with cocktails and desserts on offer.
