Epicurean adventures: Longitude 131°

It seems that the rest of the world is beginning to appreciate what we have always known; that Australian food and wine is among the best in the world. Tourism Australia found recently that international visitors ranked Australia second in the world as a gourmet destination, behind only the culinary powerhouse of France. Luxury Travel magazine has chosen some of the best epicurean experiences in Australia for you to explore.

When it comes to memorable settings for a sit down meal, Longitude 131° in the Red Centre is in a league of its own. Dining under the stars at Table 131° is an indulgent experience in desolate surrounds; the food on the daily changing menu is bountiful and beautiful. Think seared scallops, wild mushroom soup and honey lavender pana cotta, all paired with wine. You will enjoy canapés and cocktails with the sunset before sitting down to dinner with the sounds of a didgeridoo in the background. If you’d prefer to dine with just your partner private dining is available at Longitude’s secluded Dune Top lookout or poolside for A$250 per couple.

Longitude’s 15 luxury tents are pitched at the gateway of the dual World Heritage listed wilderness of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and all offer floor to ceiling views of Uluru.

From Ayers Rock Airport the lodge operates a complimentary four-wheel drive transfer for guests. Helicopter transfers are also available. Table 131° operates subject to weather and climatic conditions.

Staying there

Tents are priced from A$1,100 per night with a minimum two-night stay. longitude131.com.au
