The Danna Langkawi – Aerial Shot
Relaxation, indulgence, luxury, and adventure are all on the menu at the Danna Langkawi
Malaysia’s Langkawi region is a tropical oasis painted in emerald greens and cerulean blues. Soaring outcrops and sparkling tides wrap the 99+ islands that make up the Langkawi archipelago, with a mix of uninhibited volcanic formations and blissful resort destinations, each holding its own array of hidden treasures to be explored.
The Danna Langkawi is one of the region’s best hotels, offering beachfront access for guests to enjoy their own private slice of Langkawi paradise. With the Andaman Sea on one side, and verdant rainforest on the other, the hotel feels completely private and hidden, yet is a stone’s throw from the main town and minutes from some of Langkawi’s best attractions. Close though it may be, The Danna is one of those hotels you never really have to leave, with the beauty of its location only matched by the sumptuous accommodation offerings, luxury amenities, gourmet restaurants, and curated guest services and activities for every kind of traveller.
With so much to do, see, and experience in the hotel and beyond, we’ve given our own snapshot of 48 hours inside the Danna Langkawi, which is just the beginning of a holiday well spent.

Day 1
Our time at The Danna Langkawi starts in the nearby Telaga Harbour Park, where ferries dock to and from Koh Lipe in Thailand and flights touch down at the nearby Langkawi International Airport. All bookings made directly with the hotel include complimentary return airport transfer and so after the flight lands we are whisked blissfully away and onto paradise.
As the car glides out of the Harbour Park hub and into the surrounding rainforest, you immediately feel like you’ve been transported into a new world, where exotic birds sing from the trees and sunlight bounces off the rippling waters. A colonial-era building appears through a gap in the landscape, with panelled windows and oversized arches only adding to the transportive aura of the arrival experience.

Inside the hotel, a small collection of generously sized rooms and suites drink in the sublime surrounds, creating a luxurious home-away-from-home for guests complete with amenities from Dyson and toiletries by Jo Loves by Jo Malone. For this 48 hour window, we indulge in two nights in one of the hotel’s two villas, where floor-to-ceiling windows, private infinity pool, bespoke pillow menu, and direct beach access, combine for the ultimate tropical escape.
After settling in, it’s time to refuel at one of the resort’s six on-site restaurants, specifically the beautiful Planter’s, where an enticing à la carte lunch menu showcases a global selection along with locally inspired specialties like rendang and satay. A stroll around the hotel’s grounds walks off the lunch, while a dip in oversized infinity pool presents the perfect languid afternoon.
Once we’re ready for even more relaxation, it’s time to catch the elevator up to the hotel’s top floor and indulge in Langakwi’s best spa, where the restorative powers of the spa therapists manifest in massages, facials, and holistic healing experiences. Day one ends immersed in the beauty of the island, with a sunset party and dinner cruise on the Andaman Sea.

Day 2
Day 2 at the Danna Langkawi is the perfect time to dial up the adventure, making the most of the hotel’s curated services, amenities, and offerings. After working up a sweat in the state-of-the-art gym, it’s time for a quick dip in the crystal clear waters of the ocean, making the most of the villa’s direct beach access.
Grab some seasonal pastries and desserts at the STC Cafe and Deli, and then it’s time for the excursion of a lifetime, with a private UNESCO Geopark Tour that takes us into the heart of the archipelago. As the first geopark in South East Asia, this tour explores one of the world’s rarest natural wonders, giving guests access to a treasure trove of biodiversity that includes stops in the Tanjung Rhu river, Kilim river, Crocodile or Bat cave and a fish farm.
A day on the water makes way for a beautiful evening back in the hotel, where a drink and cigar in the Churchill cigar room whets the palate for a flavourful dinner service at Straits & Co, where authentic Peranakan cuisine takes guests straight to Malaysia’s culinary heartbeat. A late night swim back in the villa reveals a canopy of twinkling stars and a soundtrack of softly lapping waves, the perfect end to a 48 hour trip to eden.

For those looking for a sublime escape, the Danna Langkawi offers the kind of bliss you can only find on a tropical island. Tranquil surroundings, beautiful lodgings, curated experiences, and world-class dining are just some of what the hotel has in store, where every minute that passess presents another opportunity to sink further into total relaxation. 48 hours at the Danna Langkawi just scratches the surface of what’s on offer, who knows what tomorrow will hold?
