A review of the London Studio suite at Brown’s Hotel London.
About the hotel
Opened in 1837 in fashionable Mayfair, Brown’s Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in London. The hotel combines a rich history and boutique character with contemporary décor and amenities. Hosting a long line of notable guests including royalty, nobility, famous writers and world leaders, Brown’s has long been established and known for its hospitality and service. A chauffeured BMW with WiFi access picked me up from the airport, which was very comfortable and convenient after a long flight.
Unique features
Brown’s rich history is reflected in the naming of various suites and event rooms. The Kipling Suite was named after author Rudyard Kipling, who penned The Jungle Book during his stay at Brown’s Hotel. The Graham Bell Room was renamed in honour of Sir Alexander Graham Bell, who in 1876 famously made the first successful telephone call from Brown’s Hotel.
Dining
HIX Mayfair, under the direction of chef Mark Hix, combines contemporary British dishes with contemporary British art, while award-winning afternoon tea is served in The English Tea Room, which also serves a blend of Brown’s own tea. Antique fireplaces and original 18th Century wood panelling set the scene for a traditional London pastime. Master classes are offered at both restaurants.
Spa
The Spa at Brown’s offers a range of specially crafted pampering packages for him, her and even younger guests. The 24-hour fitness centre offers personal training services and provides jogging route maps for nearby Green Park.
Highlights
There was excellent service checking in, my room was ready and waiting even though it was 7am when I arrived.
