Why stay here?

This old and distinguished hotel on the Italian Riviera is rich in history and tradition. It opened in 1872 and was once the home of royalty. On the Mediterranean shore, it boasts 180-degree views and its own sandy beach right out front. And talk about convenient location – Royal Hotel Sanremo is only a short walk from the centre of Sanremo town and its shops and restaurants. Nice Airport and the French Riviera are a 45-minute drive, Monte Carlo just 25 minutes.

Rise & shine breakfast time?

A beautiful buffet breakfast is laid out with views over the Mediterranean. Service was outstanding with plenty of staff to order up or change anything.

A fresh juice bar is available with plenty of options to have your own fresh juice made up.

What’s for dinner?

There are three restaurants in the hotel, plus the summer option of dining alfresco in the beautiful gazebo. With its panoramic bay windows, eating at Fiori di Murano almost feels like dining right on the sand. Menu choices range across Mediterranean, Ligurian and international cuisine, with fixed-price or à la carte options.

Time out

The Royal Wellness Spa features a hammam and hydro-massage pool.

Wow factor

It is the best hotel in the area and right on the beach. During the summer months there wouldn’t be a better place to stay in this part of Italy. The heated outdoor seawater pool in front of the hotel is a work of art with its mosaic tiles and water features.

Could do better

More restaurant options in the hotel.

I would like an upgrade

Suite Sissi is spacious and luxurious at 82sqm. It has a large outdoor terrace with sunbeds, a gazebo and a four-person jacuzzi plus a dining table for six. Inside are two bedrooms with marble bathrooms, and a common living area with plenty of lounge space.

Insider tip

Make sure you reserve an oceanfront room. And take some time of an evening to sit in the Bar delle Rose and listen to the live piano music, pre-dinner drink in hand.
