The Emory: London’s most considered all-suite hotel

The Emory Deluxe Balcony Park Suite | The Emory London review

Overlooking Hyde Park in Belgravia, The Emory brings a quietly confident proposition to London’s luxury scene – all-suite accommodation, all-inclusive rates and a level of personalised service that feels both modern and deeply assured

Why stay here

With its striking contemporary architecture and a unique concept that includes all-suite accommodation and all-inclusive rates, The Emory makes a compelling proposition in London’s saturated luxury hotel market. Swanning in on an exclusive jet landing at London’s private airfields? The hotel will helicopter you to your accommodation from there. Arriving or departing by plane or train? They’ll transfer you via their fleet of luxury cars. Plus, your own Emory Assistant can organise unpacking and pressing on arrival, look after any reservations and stock your in-suite bar with seasonal tipples and nibbles.

Design

Opened in April 2024, The Emory joins the esteemed Maybourne Group, whose other hotels in the city – Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley (the latter just next door) – are unmistakably, classically British. Also classically British? Hyde Park, which the 61-suite hotel overlooks.

Designed by renowned firm Rigby & Rigby, The Emory’s striking 10-storey facade rises from the street like a giant Meccano structure, making a bold statement amid Belgravia’s elegant Georgian and Regency-style townhouses.

All in the add-ons

Look forward to a £250 hotel credit, a twilight rooftop experience, drinks for two with a taster board, return airport transfers in The Emory fleet, a helicopter one-way transfer from selected airfields and private jet terminals, a daily Tracy Anderson class in Surrenne followed by a post-workout Rose Ferguson smoothie, a tailor-made private cocktail masterclass.

A line-up of international creatives were responsible for the interiors, from Alexandra Champalimaud of New York and Parisien Pierre-Yves Rochon to Milan-based Patricia Urquiola and Asia’s most celebrated interior architect, Andre Fu. Each led their aesthetic expertise to two floors, while acclaimed Parisien interior architect Rémi Tessier designed many of The Emory’s public spaces – the abc kitchens, The Emory Rooftop Bar on the 10th floor, The Emory Cigar Merchants, and the private wellness and longevity club, Surrenne.

My expansive two-bedroom Emory Park Suite, designed by Andre Fu, showcases his signature minimalist aesthetic with clean architectural lines softened by plush textures, layered neutrals, and subtle pops of colour. Stretching along the park side of the building, floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious balcony frame uninterrupted views across lush Hyde Park and the charming red-brick streets that border it.

Dining at The Emory

Celebrated French-American chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who operates some 60 restaurants around the globe, has united his three New York abc dining concepts – farm-to-table abc kitchen, South American-inspired abc cocina and vegan abcV – at The Emory’s abc kitchens restaurant. Whichever way you go, Vongerichten fuses an explosion of flavour into dishes, with influences from across the culinary world. Think crispy Dover sole tacos, chargrilled octopus, sweat pea guacamole, Dorset crab toast, black truffle pizza and arroz con pollo. Overseeing the menu in this 55-seater and private dining room is the Gordon Ramsay and Eric Chavot-trained Ben Boeynaems.

With Cedric Grolet’s patisserie in The Berkeley next door – accessed via a sliding door – the aroma of freshly-baked croissants stirs the appetite at breakfast, which is complimentary for Emory guests. The restaurant does a mean eggs benedict and offers generous serves of smoked salmon with your eggs. Meanwhile, a unique ‘The Art of Dining’ package gives guests an accumulative daily credit at all Maybourne restaurants in London with use of a hotel car.

Spa & wellness

Housed over four subterranean levels, private wellness club Surrenne comes with a joining fee of £10,000 (about AU$19,995), but guests of The Emory can – thankfully – enjoy complimentary access.

There’s a 22-metre magnesium lap pool, seven luxurious treatment rooms including a double’s suite, two wet treatment rooms, steam and sauna facilities with snow shower – a cooling therapy where ice flakes are gently released from above, creating a soft ‘snowfall’ sensation – a ‘longevity suite’ and a state-of-the-art gym. The impressive treatment menu includes facials using skincare by noted plastic surgeon Dr Lara Devgan, while Fitness by Tracy Anderson classes are on offer in what is the fitness pioneer’s only UK studio. My hour-long ‘I Need it All’ treatment is a therapeutic mixture of Thai massage, shiatsu and deep-tissue techniques that work wonders on my travel-weary body.

Special touches

It’s the personal attention and bespoke service that makes this newcomer to London’s prestigious hotel scene such a stand-out. On arriving hatless in winter, I comment on the warm black beanies the top-coated doormen were wearing to combat the blistering cold. A little later in my suite, an Emory gift bag arrives with two cashmere beanies and a lovely note from the doormen. Later in the day, on learning my back was playing up, one of the Emory Assistants organises an in-house spa appointment for me with a physio-chiropractor and has a jar of Tiger Balm delivered to my room.

If you want to upgrade

If money is no object, opt for the 300-square-metre Emory Penthouse. Designed by Rigby & Rigby, it extends over an entire floor and sleeps up to five guests with two emperor beds and two ensuite bathrooms. A separate dining room can cater for eight diners with unparalleled views from every window.
