A chef’s guide to Paris

Chef Guillaume Brahimi

#Benoit

This is a beautiful, traditional French bistro by Alain Ducasse. It has a warm atmosphere and is close to the Hotel de Ville. Great for a casual lunch or dinner.

#2 Le Comptoir

An intimate and great little bistro in St Germain. I am good friends with the chef Yves Camdeborde and it is the perfect place to sit outside and watch the activity of St Germain. The tapas-style bar here, L’Avant Comptoir serves as the perfect place to wait for your table at Le Comptoir, with a terrific wine list and hanging meats – but it is very crowded and very small, so make sure you don’t mind being close to people!

#3 Fromagerie Laurent Dubois

One of the best places in the world if you are into cheese; a visit to this shop shows you the pinnacle of French cheeses.

#4 Fabrice Le Bourdat

There is so much craftsmanship in every piece of patisserie here, everything is perfection. I love the millefeuille.

#5 Epicure, Le Bristol

This is a very special restaurant located inside the famous Le Bristol Paris – a three-star Michelin restaurant with a great chef, Eric Frechon. This is glamorous Paris at its best. The bar at the same hotel, Le Bar du Bristol, is the ultimate sophisticated Parisian bar with great martinis and really cool music.

#6 La Maison du Chocolat

This is the ultimate high-quality chocolate store, beautifully handled; there are a few shops around Paris now and they are all beautiful.

#7 Poilâne

For me Poilâne is part of France’s heritage; this bread has become so famous and has such a great history; the sourdough is the best in Paris, without a doubt.

Located in the Eiffel Tower district; Le Marais district; and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. poilane.com

#8 Restaurant Jean-François Piège

This is a wonderful, unique 20-seat restaurant that I visit every time I go to Paris. I think Jean-François is cooking some of the best food in the city; for something more casual he has a brasserie next door, called Brasserie Thoumieux.
