A New Culinary Cruise

The Strand Cruise has announced the launch of its first culinary cruise to be held in March 2017. Executive chef of The Strand Hotel Yangon, Christian Martena and Bangkok-based farm-to-table chef Sylvian Royer will lead the four-night culinary journey down the Ayeyarwady River from Bagan to Mandalay in Myanmar.

Guests on the culinary cruise will visit riverside markets accompanied by the two chefs and learn about local ingredients such tealeaf, which is used to make the traditional Myanmar salad Laphet. Passengers will also learn how to shuck oysters and identify ingredients used in Myanmar cuisine in a blind folded tasting contest. On board each evening chefs will serve a range of their signature dishes paired with wines.

Sister to the recently renovated The Strand Hotel Yangon, The Strand Cruise is a luxury river vessel that features cabin and suite accommodation with a personal butler service, spa and fitness room and outdoor pool on the upper deck.

The culinary themed cruise will be hosted at no extra cost to passengers travelling on the four-night cruise from Bagan to Mandalay on March 13, 2017.

Rates start from US$2694 (about A$3560) per person sharing a Deluxe cabin based on double occupancy.
