A new EDITION

A new luxury island hotel is set to open in China.

Based on the vision of a new cosmopolitan China, the EDITION Sanya hotel will be opening its doors in December 2016. Located on the island of Hainan just off the coast of Southern China, this 50-acre property is the newest addition to EDITION hotels, the brand Ian Schrager conceived in partnership with Marriott International. The unique horseshoe-shaped architecture allows all 512 guest rooms and suites views of the ocean, while the 17 exclusive villas, nestled upon a terraced hillside, feature private pools and outdoor spaces. The property features a 20,000 square-metre private ocean overlooking the South China sea, in addition to two large pools.

“The Sanya EDITION was conceived for the China of today and the China of tomorrow,” Schrager said. “The resort is a unique sophisticated vision and embodiment of a cosmopolitan China for all the world to see.”

Inspired by water, the hotel intends to provide a “one-of-a-kind” sensory experience to suit all ages; divided into different specialised zones, including water, fun, sports, family, adults, nightlife, and relaxation. More adventurous guests can go rock climbing while wellness seekers can retreat to the Spa or meditation forest. There is a wide selection of family-friendly designated zones and activities, from a private bumper-car rink to an outdoor cinema.

Dining options include beach-side Indonesian cuisine, a rooftop bar and the hotel’s signature Cantonese restaurant, Xian Hai By The Sea, which is accessible via a boat-ride on a traditional Sampan. Here guests can opt to dine atop an illuminated floating platform in the private ocean.
