Abercrombie & Kent is launching its first foray into Indonesia with a spectacular new journey from Bali to the Komodo and Moyo Islands in November. The adventure takes travellers off the beaten track into Bali’s interior, where tropical plantations, fast-flowing rivers, crater lakes, volcanoes and mystical temples dot the landscape.
The journey includes an extraordinary seven-night voyage aboard the reimagined Aqua Blu, an exciting long-range yacht launching November 2019. The voyage takes highlights the landscapes of Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to the prehistoric Komodo Dragon, the largest lizard species to walk the Earth.
There are also stunning marine discoveries in store at some of the best diving and snorkelling sites in the world, and the coastal terrain is sprinkled with picture-perfect hills, bays and beaches. Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, trekking and jungle explorations provide added opportunity for further immersion in this pristine ecosystem, while cocktails on Komodo’s iconic Pink Beach will be remembered forever.
Day 1
Arrive at Denpasar
Arrive at Denpasar Airport with a VIP fast track arrival service. As you disembark the aircraft, you are escorted through the airport to meet your guide while waiting for your passport to be processed by immigration officials. Once cleared for immigration, collect your luggage and transfer north up the coast to your tropical refuge, Soori Bali, nestled on a stunning black sand beach. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2
Denpasar – Alassari
This morning travel inland to the Tabanan region, known for its beautiful rice terraces. In Selemadeg village, hop aboard an e-bike for your first adventure. Cycle around the village and through surrounding hills and rainforests passing tropical plantations, rivers and rustic villages along the way. Pedal uphill to a beautiful spot where you can admire the view and enjoy local tropical fruits. Continue on to an eco-lodge where an organic lunch is arranged. Arrive at your accommodation in a coffee plantation on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, an extinct volcano. Alassari Plantation offers an isolated retreat that reflects the style of Joglo palaces of antiquity.

Day 3
Alassari – Belimbing
This morning head out to explore the magnificent natural landscapes of Belimbing. The area is ideal for trekking, taking you back to a Bali of old. Tailor your own day according to your interest and level of fitness: stroll through the plantation and rice fields, hike up Mt. Batukaru or visit local temples and a village healer.

Day 4
Alassari – Munduk
Continue north today to Munduk with some adventure in store. Discover a variety of flora as you make your way down through the dense rainforest to the north bank of Tamblingan crate lake. Step on board a dugout canoe for a ride across the lake with two stunning volcanoes as a backdrop. On the west bank, bathe in the holy water of a sacred spring which is only accessible by water. Arrive at your plantation hideaway in time for lunch. This afternoon explore the working coffee estate on foot taking in the dramatic scenery of towering volcanoes and mountains. Cool down with a swim at a red coral waterfall before returning.

Day 5
Munduk – Moyo Island
This morning return south to Benoa port where you board Aqua Expeditions’ vessel Aqua Blu, your home for the next seven nights. Enjoy a warm welcome and cruise to Moyo Island as the sun sets.

Day 6
Moyo Island
Arrive at the remote island of Moyo, where unspoiled terrestrial and marine habitats remain virtually untouched by outside influences. Explore the verdant jungle and cascading waterfalls on the lookout for wild oxen, deer, boar and a variety of bird species. Snorkel at the shallow Angel Reef admiring the tropical fish and colourful corals.

Day 7
Saleh Bay, Sumbawa
Next stop is Saleh Bay, where an up-close ranger-led encounter with friendly whale sharks is sure to be a highlight. This evening, witness the dramatic flight of fruit bats at Sattonda, as they head out over the mangroves on their nocturnal hunt.

Day 8
Gili Banta – West Komodo
Enjoy spectacular sunrise and breakfast with Sangeang volcano as the backdrop and arrive at Gili Banta, a remote haven for beach lovers and snorkelers and divers (dive sites such as Star Wars and K2 are among the world’s best) alike. Or hike the Eastern Ridge for stunning views. In the afternoon, sail to nearby West Komodo to encounter the Komodo dragons in the wild.

Day 9
Linta Strait – Padar
In the morning discover Linta Strait, a world-famous spot for drift snorkelling and diving. Large pelagic fish are very common as well as manta rays, giant trevally and big schools of barracuda. In the afternoon, arrive at picturesque Padar Island. Hike up the hill for iconic views before a sunset cocktail on the beach.

Day 10
Horseshoe Bay – Pink Beach
After a morning sailing through a spectacular sea passage, arrive in Horseshoe Bay, a dramatic curvature of land that is the remains of an ancient volcano caldera. Visit the favourite haunts of sea eagles and Komodo dragon aboard Aqua Blu’s skiffs or choose to dive or swim. In the late afternoon, the iconic Pink Beach awaits. Trek, witness the flight of bats or visit the local village. Or simply relax on the beach, cocktail in hand.

Day 11
Rinca – Gili Lawa Laut
Discover Komodo National Park’s largest Komodo dragon population on land at Rinca before sailing to Gili Lawa Laut, an islet that features expansive beaches and shallow reefs for kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. Meanwhile, explore diving and snorkelling spots and keep your eyes peeled for turtles.

Depart Labuan Bajo
