After a long day on the slopes, guests can enjoy a meal at Stingray Lounge, followed by relaxing soak in a private balcony Jacuzzi outside their apartment. An apartment at QT Falls Creek has a two-night minimum stay in winter; rates start from $712 a night during peak season, or $245 a night during off-season for a one-bedroom apartment.
2. Thredbo Alpine Hotel
Located in the heart of Thredbo Village, the Thredbo Alpine Hotel is major part of the atmosphere in the quaint mountain town. The front door is only metres from the base of the Kosciuszko Express Chair and a short walk to entertainment in the village. In-house, the hotel offers a coffee shop, cocktail bar and three dining options, most notably Segreto, for fine Italy dining and a specially curated wine list. Rates start from $510 during peak season or $189 during the off-season for a basic room.
3. Hotel Pension Grimus
Nestled a mere 50 metres from the Abom six-seat lift at Mount Buller, the Hotel Pension Grimus offers a array of services for luxury travellers. Dining is available in the full service restaurant, Kaptans, or for après-ski snacks, guests can try Herbie’s Bar. There is a coffee window (ideal for those keen on an early morning start on the slopes), and for post-ski relaxation back at the hotel there is a sauna, plunge pool, spa and masseur. And if you don’t bring equipment with you, the hotel offers in-house ski hire. Rates start from $445 for a basic room when the hotel is open between June and September, and require a two night minimum stay.

4. Ski-In Ski-Out Chalets Thredbo
These self-contained units at Thredbo are situated on Crackenback Ridge, which makes a great ski-in ski-out location. Each unit has a fireplace, private Jacuzzi and comes equipped with kitchen supplies. Ski porter services are also available. Whether you’re a solo luxury traveller or travelling in a group or with family, these accommodations offer a private space to enjoy the beautiful Snowy Mountains of New South Wales. Rates start from $1850 for two nights during peak season and $950 during low demand seasons, for a one-bedroom chalet with a loft.
5. The Denman Thredbo
Another option for staying and skiing at Thredbo, the Denman is a family-run hotel located in one of the oldest buildings in town. The operating family focuses on warm and friendly service in all parts of the hotel, from ski storage to dining at the Terrace Restaurant. For quiet après-ski drinks, the Library Bar welcomes guests with comfortable couches and themed décor, while the Après Bar offers a long list of special cocktails to fit all tastes. Rates start from $486 until the season ends, when the nightly rate drops to around $185 for a compact double room. The hotel requires a two-night minimum stay.
6. Grand Mercure Chalet Mount Buller
Below Mount Buller in Buller Village sits this property from the Grand Mercure hotel group and offers such comforts as valet parking, a fitness centre, a pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, and spa & massage services. Guests can warm up after a day on the slopes with a drink at one of the two bars, before dinner at the in-house restaurant, followed by a soak in the jacuzzi spa bath. 7. Zirky’s Mount Hotham
This hotel at Mount Hotham returned to family operations in winter of 2015 and has maintained a high standard for quality and service. Zirky’s provides in-house ski hire for $72 per day for adults and have ski-in ski-out capacity. The award-winning restaurant, bar for après-ski and café and bistro for breakfast mean meals are taken care of, and anything forgotten at home can be easily replaced at the sports shop. Rates start from $818 for a two-night stay during peak season and $572 a night in low season in one of Zirky’s guest rooms.
