Casa Gangotena

A recently restored historic mansion overlooking the beautiful Plaza San Francisco in Quito’s old town, Casa Gangotena combines classical architecture with contemporary design, for an outstanding luxury stay in the heart of Ecuador’s bustling capital.

Its 31 rooms across three storeys are spacious, comfortable and each complete with stunning marble-finished bathrooms, but the highlight really is the communal patio terrace and bar on the first floor. With high glassed in ceilings, fine antique furnishings and fresh flowers on literally every surface, the space is beautifully and eclectically put together; it’s old-world luxury at it’s best.

If you’re looking for a local Quito experience, try the Quiteño afternoon coffee service – essentially the local equivalent of the English high tea. It’s served on the terrace and in the bar throughout the afternoon.
