Luxury travel company andBeyond has added a third island resort property to its portfolio. The company will take over the management of Vamizi Island, located off the coast of northern Mozambique, from 1 March 2016.
The island’s six individually designed luxury villas each have a dedicated team of staff and a vehicle to visit some of the five private picnic sites or to explore the island’s mangrove lagoons.
“These exclusive houses are very different to what we have to offer at either andBeyond Mnemba Island or andBeyond Benguerra Island…. They represent the ultimate private beach hideaway for individuals, families or groups looking to escape winter or to end their safari on this very unique island,” explains Joss Kent, andBeyond CEO.
Vamizi has some of the most pristine environment on the East African coast, making it home to varied marine life. The island’s Neptune’s Arm – widely regarded as one of the world’s top diving sites – is home to over 180 species of coral and more than 400 kinds of reef fish. Complementing andBeyond’s conservation ethos, a marine sanctuary covers the eastern side of the island, extending three kilometres out to sea.
Vamizi Island can be accessed via a scheduled or charter flight from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Nairobi, Kenya; or Johannesburg, South Africa to Pemba in Mozambique. From there, a light aircraft takes travellers directly to andBeyond Vamizi Island. Rates start at US$1,970 (about A$2,750) per villa, per night twin share.
