Floral-infused Cruise

Building on its global portfolio of first-class travel experiences, Belmond has just announced the addition of two new barges to their luxury fleet. The vessels, set to launch next year, will ferry guests along the canals and rivers that wind through Alsace and Champagne in the north east of France.

Christened Pivoine (Peony) and Lilas (Lilac), the barge interiors have been designed to reflect the natural beauty of their surroundings. Belmond Pivoine takes its inspiration from the delicate palette of peonies and champagne; white marble bathrooms and Parisian bed covers creating a tranquil setting below deck. On board Belmond Lilas pops of colour, natural linens and timber wood furnishings combine to reflect the rustic Alsace region and the vibrancy of the lilac flower. This floral motif is repeated in the open decks on both barges with the private area featuring a heated swimming pool surrounded by plants.

Both comprising four ensuite cabins, Belmond Pivoine and Belmond Lilas will each accommodate up to eight guests for luxury six-night itineraries through the French countryside. Belmond Pivoine is set to cruise between Meaux and Châlons-en– Champagne, along the River Marne and Canal Lateral de Marne while Belmond Lilas will travel between Arzviller and Strasbourg. On the journey guests will have the opportunity to disembark and explore the canal-side villages and towns, visit family-owned vineyards and sample the culinary culture of the Alsace region.

With tailor-made itineraries throughout the French canals and rivers, Belmond Afloat in France offers travellers the chance to experience the picturesque French countryside in slow-paced luxury. The addition of Belmond Pivoine and Belmond Lilas will bring the Belmond Afloat in France fleet to seven.

Prices start from €5200 (about A$7714) per person for a six-night cruise on an all-inclusive basis based on eight guests travelling.
