The living area
Voavah is a tiny 5-acre, exclusive-use island nestled in the world’s only UNESCO biosphere reserve, home to reef sharks, fish, turtles and mantas. Guests arrive by seaplane, before settling into one of the seven bedrooms spread across 3 suites and villas. The view from the bedroom
Arguably the most famous private island in the world, Necker is Sir Richard Branson’s personal playground. The Great House has been completely rebuilt after it burned down and the deck is once again stocked with hammocks, daybeds and pillows. There’s a huge swimming pool with a swim up bar and an aqua trampoline anchored to the floor off the Main Beach. You can also play on the Necker Nymph, a three-person aero submarine that takes you down to 30 metres.

The island
It’s the ultimate in barefoot luxury at this breezy beach house on an island in French Polynesia’s remote Rangiroa Archipelago. Try your hand at outrigger canoeing with one of the local guides or just take a (swimsuit optional) dip in the crystal clear lagoon. The chef will cook relaxed meals of freshly caught fish to be served on the deck of the main house, or you can take your breakfast by the beach.

The living room
Australia’s very own exclusive-use private island opened to guests earlier this year. Just a 10-minute boat trip from Coles Bay, the island’s lodge was designed by Tasmanian architect John Latham and offers 360-degree views over the Hazards granite mountain range and the surrounding ocean. Guests can observe the abundant local penguin colony, as well as the sea eagles, shearwaters, dolphins, seals and whales that surround the property. The island is self-contained and is not serviced, although guests are welcome to bring their own staff.
